The large dependency of fossil fuel have made alternative fuel e.g. ethanol increasingly popular. However, very little vinasse treatment equipment were found on the after-treatment of the effluent, named vinasse, from the molasses based ethanol production. Vinasse, the wastewater from molasses based distilleries, is produced in large quantities, and has been labelled an increasing environmental problem.

After years of research and production practices, Keyu Company has finally developed a comprehensive wastewater treatment for molasses (or sugarcane) based alcohol production. That allows to shift the status of the effluent from wastewater to valuable resource. The products, dried vinasse powder, also can be called as potassium humic acid, is a high efficient organic fertilizer containing about 10% potassium. It is a water-soluble fertilizer with the function of preserving water, improving saline-alkali land, improving fertilizer efficiency and promoting crop production. It also can be used as feed additives in animal breeding, fish/shrimp farming, cattle raising and other aspects.


The processing includes two sections: Section Ⅰ, vinasse evaporation and concentration; Section Ⅱ, spray drying of the concentrated vinasse.


Section Ⅰ. Vinasse evaporation and concentration

Evaporate vinasse to a high dry solid content of 50%~60%. This kind of thick material can be used as potassium humic acid directly, also can be used as raw material to produce a liquid compound fertilizer.
